North Korea Denies Involvement in $6.3 Billion Binance Hack

North Korean official Kim Yo-jong has formally denied state involvement in the $6.3 billion hack of cryptocurrency exchange Binance. This rebuttal follows accusations from the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and various cyber intelligence analysts who identified the attack as the largest of its kind in history.

Intelligence agencies attribute the breach to the Lazarus Group, also known as TraderTraitor, a hacking unit long suspected of being state-sponsored. The group was previously implicated in the 2025 theft of $1.5 billion from the Bybit exchange. U.S. authorities have urged financial institutions to monitor and block transactions linked to accounts associated with this collective.

Kim Yo-jong characterized the allegations as a provocative attempt by the U.S. to damage the nation’s international reputation. While North Korea continues to deny the claims, international scrutiny remains high. Binance has stated that it is focusing on the technical remediation of the breach to ensure user asset security.
