Northwood Space secures $375 million to expand satellite ground network
Northwood Space has raised $375 million in Series C funding to scale its modular ground antenna network and meet rising demand for satellite connectivity.

California-based Northwood Space Corp. has closed a $375 million Series C financing round, aiming to scale its shared ground network infrastructure. The company manufactures modular antennas designed to transmit data to and from satellites, addressing what it identifies as a critical bottleneck in the growing space industry.
As the number of active satellites in orbit has surged, traditional ground infrastructure has struggled to keep pace. Northwood’s model relies on standardized, portable hardware that does not require extensive civil works, allowing for faster deployment compared to legacy ground stations. The company uses proprietary software to combine multiple small antennas into larger apertures, providing high-throughput services for government and commercial operators.
The investment round was led by Andreessen Horowitz and DFJ Growth, with support from various venture capital firms and a credit facility from HSBC Innovation Banking. CEO Bridgit Mendler stated that the funding will support the buildout of infrastructure necessary for next-generation space missions. The company, which recently expanded its manufacturing capacity in Torrance, intends to use the capital to meet existing contracts and accelerate global site expansion.
