Nova Innovation Appoints Guy Madgwick as Chair

Nova Innovation has appointed Guy Madgwick as the company's new Chair. Madgwick, with over four decades of experience in the energy sector and a proven history of driving transformation and high growth in energy companies, takes over from Sir Michael Fallon, who has served on the Nova board for five years.

Madgwick began his career as a geologist in the oil and gas industry before transitioning to the power sector in the 1990s. For the past 20 years, he has championed renewable energy development and sustainability in senior leadership roles with companies including RWE/npower, ENECO, Senvion, Red Rock Power, and Bluefield.

He is a recognised leader in the offshore wind industry, involved in the development of the UK's initial offshore wind farms. While at Dutch energy firm ENECO, he was responsible for developing over 200MW across six large wind farms in Scotland. Madgwick also served as CEO of Red Rock Power.

The appointment comes amid growing momentum in floating solar, with over 55 MW of capacity gaining consent for 2025. Nova's joint venture with RSK, AquaGen365, provides a comprehensive solution for floating solar projects. With the UK government targeting 75,000 MW of solar capacity via its Solar Roadmap, there is significant growth potential for floating solar installations.
