Nova Innovation's Floating Solar Array in Port of Leith Reaches Two-Year Milestone

Nova Innovation is marking two years of electricity generation from its floating solar demonstrator located in the Port of Leith. Since commencing operations on October 2, 2023, the array has supplied green energy daily, showcasing the technology's reliability and robustness. Over the past two years, the system has withstood significant weather challenges, including 17 named storms, notably Storm Ewoyn, the most powerful storm to hit the UK in the last decade, all while continuing to produce clean electricity.

"The robust and dependable reliability of the floating solar array is a testament to the high quality of our product," stated Simon Forrest, Chief Executive Officer of Nova Innovation. He added, "The demonstrator, along with the formation of AquaGen365, has enabled us to build up a strong pipeline of projects across the UK."

The floating solar array powers the headquarters of Forth Ports, reducing their energy costs and advancing their commitment to achieving net-zero emissions by 2042. Nova Innovation is now extending these benefits to other organizations across the UK, Europe, and Africa seeking practical solutions for the energy transition.
