Nova installs floating solar array at Forth Ports headquarters in Leith

Nova Innovation, a company specializing in marine energy, has installed a floating solar array to supply electricity to Forth Ports' headquarters located in the Port of Leith, Scotland. This initiative supports Forth Ports' commitment to achieving net-zero carbon emissions by 2042.

The floating solar demonstrator was constructed and installed by Nova over the summer. The system is designed to withstand harsh marine conditions and has already proven its capability by generating electricity during a significant storm in October, ahead of the Scottish winter.

Forth Ports is focusing on developing leading infrastructure at its ports to facilitate the energy transition and create green jobs. These infrastructure investments are crucial for achieving net-zero targets and paving the way for emerging technologies like Nova's floating solar systems.

Simon Forrest, CEO of Nova Innovation, highlighted the significant global potential for floating solar technology. He noted that the company is already working on larger installations following the successful deployment in Leith.
