Novaclad Launches AI-LiDAR Measurement Engine for Building Trades
Novaclad has released a new free iOS app utilizing AI and LiDAR technology to measure kitchens and price fabrication work.
St. Louis, MO – Construction technology company Novaclad has launched its first consumer product built on its AI-LiDAR measurement engine. The new free iOS app allows homeowners to measure their kitchen using an iPhone, price a countertop from a real catalog, and hand the job to a local fabricator in approximately five minutes.
The technology aims to streamline and improve accuracy in the custom fabrication process, a sector traditionally reliant on tape measures and delayed quotes. The app captures a room in three dimensions using the iPhone's LiDAR sensor and an AI model trained to understand fabrication workflows, resulting in a precise takeoff and itemized pricing from the fabricator's own price book.
Company co-founders Ryan and Audrey Brown developed Novaclad on the floor of their own stone fabrication shop, aiming to automate measurement and material waste issues in the industry. They state the technology automates guesswork and waiting times, rather than replacing skilled craftspeople.
Novaclad is launching in the St. Louis area with Rock Creek Granite as a founding fabricator and plans to expand a one-fabricator-per-market model. Initially focused on countertops, the engine is designed to extend to other fabricated finishes.
The app is free for users, with customers paying their fabricator for the work. It requires an iPhone 12 Pro or newer Pro model running iOS 17 or later.
