Novartis and partners launch digital breast cancer monitoring

PHARMA.COLOGY—Novartis, in collaboration with Frankfurt Höchst's varisano hospital and digital health solutions provider Luscii, has initiated a new digital monitoring model for breast cancer patients receiving CDK4/6 inhibitor therapy.

The project aims to alleviate the burden of frequent hospital visits for patients and the healthcare system. The digital platform allows patients to regularly document their symptoms and medication intake, with data transmitted in real-time to the breast center at varisano hospital.

The hospital's care team monitors the information via a centralized dashboard. Should defined thresholds be exceeded, the system provides immediate notification, enabling early intervention. Stable patient conditions may allow for the avoidance of additional clinic appointments.

Novartis acts as a catalyst in the project, bringing parties together and supporting its organization. The company also promotes evidence generation to assess the model's feasibility and improvement of care, leveraging its long-standing experience in cancer treatment and innovative products in the German market.

Approximately 75,000 women in Germany are diagnosed with breast cancer annually. Advanced modern therapies require close medical supervision, creating strain for patients and hospitals. Digital solutions offer remote monitoring and early intervention capabilities.
