Novonesis Invests €600 Million in New Enzyme Production Facility in India

Biosolutions producer Novonesis announced an investment of €600 million to expand its production site in Patalganga, India. The project includes the construction of a next-generation enzyme manufacturing facility, scheduled to be fully operational by 2030.

The investment will substantially increase Novonesis' production capacity to meet growing global demand for its biosolutions. The expansion is also expected to enhance the flexibility and resilience of the company’s global supply network. The new facility is designed for reduced water and energy consumption, aligning with the company's emission reduction targets.

The Patalganga expansion will bring production closer to customers in India, as well as the Middle East and Africa. Novonesis anticipates these regions will grow faster than developed markets in the coming years. The expanded facility will serve as a key component of the company's global manufacturing network.

Novonesis has previously announced expansions at production sites in several other countries, including Thailand, the United States, China, and Brazil. The company has also prioritized sustainability by designing the new facility to use less water and energy through recycling systems and integrated heat pumps.

This expansion is part of Novonesis' long-term growth strategy, aiming to bolster its position in rapidly expanding markets. The company states that its new facilities are designed to produce more with fewer resources.
