Novonesis to Manufacture and Commercialize TurtleTree's LF+® Lactoferrin
Novonesis and TurtleTree have signed an agreement for the manufacturing and commercialization of TurtleTree's precision-fermented LF+® lactoferrin for nutrition and supplement markets.

Biosolutions company Novonesis has entered into an agreement with TurtleTree to scale, manufacture, and commercialize TurtleTree's precision-fermented lactoferrin, branded LF+®. The partnership focuses on expanding access to lactoferrin for global nutrition customers.
Under the agreement, Novonesis will exclusively handle the scaling, manufacturing, and commercialization of LF+® for the early life nutrition market. The company will also secure selected commercial rights for dietary supplement applications. Novonesis is also making a minor investment in TurtleTree, joined by 321Catalyst Ventures.
Lactoferrin, a protein naturally found in milk, is valued for its roles in immunity, iron regulation, and gut health, particularly for women and infants. Traditional production methods rely on large volumes of milk, often creating challenges related to cost, supply reliability, and environmental impact.
By combining TurtleTree's precision fermentation platform with Novonesis' manufacturing and commercialization expertise, the companies aim to provide a more reliable, high-purity, and cost-effective supply of LF+®. This collaboration strengthens Novonesis' capabilities in precision fermentation and complements its existing Human Health Biosolutions portfolio.
The partnership is expected to make lactoferrin more accessible and commercially viable, enabling wider use in infant nutrition and specialized supplements.
