Novyte Uses Agentic AI to Optimize Materials Science Processes

Novyte Materials, an Indian deeptech startup, is employing agentic AI to expedite the research and development process in materials science. Traditionally, discovering and optimizing materials is a slow, iterative cycle involving extensive literature review, experimental design, and analysis of failures before achieving commercial viability.

Founded in Mumbai in 2025, Novyte has developed AI models designed to automate repetitive scientific tasks. Their platform, Novyte Q, differentiates itself by prioritizing the optimization of existing formulations and the discovery of new compositions, rather than solely focusing on novel material discovery. The company claims its AI can condense years of industrial R&D into months.

The AI platform understands scientific literature and material properties, analyzing hundreds of sources per iteration to suggest formulations and experimental pathways. It supports research from Technology Readiness Level (TRL) 1 through TRL 7, covering literature review to real-time optimization during lab experiments. Novyte reports significant reductions in development time and lab work, citing a 58% improvement for a specialty chemical manufacturer replacing a hazardous additive.

Novyte's long-term strategy extends beyond discovery to building a "synthesis layer" that helps clients transform AI-generated material candidates into manufacturable products. The company has entered a royalty agreement with Chemvera Specialty Chemicals to develop and commercialize a high-value specialty chemical for the polymer industry. The global market for AI in materials discovery is projected for substantial growth, with Market.us estimating it to reach $5.5 billion by 2034. Novyte operates in this expanding sector alongside other AI-focused material science companies such as CuspAI and Citrine Informatics.
