NSE Chief urges broker body to establish task force against AI cyberthreats

National Stock Exchange CEO Ashish Kumar Chauhan has called on India's stockbroker association to form a dedicated task force to combat emerging AI-driven cybersecurity risks.

27 October 2026

National Stock Exchange (NSE) chief Ashish Kumar Chauhan has directed the Association of National Exchanges Members of India (ANMI) to assemble a special task force aimed at defending against AI-orchestrated cyberattacks. During a recent industry convention, Chauhan noted that the exchange is auditing its network components in anticipation of a rise in system vulnerabilities over the next three years.

Chauhan highlighted that the security posture of an individual brokerage has a direct impact on the integrity of the entire market ecosystem. He advised brokers to develop in-house technical capabilities or secure external consultancy to address these threats. Furthermore, he urged firms to monitor advancements in quantum computing, noting that these technologies are expected to impact current cryptographic standards like SSL in the near future.

While the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) has already mandated a Cybersecurity and Cyber Resilience Framework (CSCRF) for market participants, NSE intends to provide additional support to ensure compliance and technical readiness. The call for enhanced security aligns with broader government concerns regarding the vulnerability of national financial infrastructure to cyber threats.
