Chinese technology firm Nubia has announced that its AI smartphone, the NaviX Ultra, has received its official sales license. The device is slated for market release in September, positioning it as the world's first AI-native smartphone. A key feature is the integration of the "Doubao" AI assistant, designed to operate locally on the device.
The NaviX Ultra employs a distinct approach to app interaction. Unlike some previous concepts that relied on extensive screen-reading capabilities, this phone will not read screen content without explicit user authorization. Instead, its AI capabilities are intended to function with applications that provide specific interfaces for AI control, aiming to enhance data security and user privacy by processing tasks internally.
The phone is expected to offer advanced natural language understanding and the ability to perform multi-step tasks across different applications, such as price comparisons or travel planning. It features a dedicated "AI button" and is anticipated to house high-end specifications, potentially including a flagship processor and a large battery.
