Nudge Aims to Boost E-commerce Visibility in AI Assistant Discovery Era

Bengaluru-based startup Nudge is addressing a significant shift in online commerce, where consumers are increasingly turning to AI assistants like ChatGPT and Gemini for product recommendations instead of traditional search engines.

This transition creates a new discovery challenge for e-commerce brands. Traditional search engine optimization (SEO) and digital advertising methods are becoming less effective as AI-native discovery prioritizes how products are presented and understood by AI models. Consequently, optimizing product metadata, descriptions, and the entire shopping journey for AI-powered interfaces is becoming crucial.

Nudge offers an "agentic commerce platform" designed to enhance how e-commerce brands are discovered, recommended, and purchased within AI-driven shopping experiences. The platform aims to ensure that product pages dynamically adapt to the user's original intent, as conveyed through natural language prompts to AI assistants.

Founded in 2023 by Kanishka Thakur and Gaurav Rawat, Nudge evolved from an earlier focus on esports. The founders recognized the growing importance of optimizing for AI conversations after observing the consumer shift. Nudge also enriches e-commerce catalogs and employs autonomous A/B testing to continuously refine product pages based on user behavior and conversational data.

By focusing on what Nudge terms the "action layer," the startup ensures that e-commerce businesses remain understandable and discoverable within AI systems. It also aims to improve the likelihood of a purchase by dynamically tailoring the shopping experience to match the original AI interaction and user intent.
