Reported price increases for servers containing NVIDIA's AI chips could escalate costs for India's data center operators and AI infrastructure providers, who are committing billions to expand GPU capacity.

According to a Bloomberg report, NVIDIA's major customers have been informed that prices for servers with its AI chips will rise by over 15% for systems shipping in early 2027. These hikes are expected to affect systems featuring NVIDIA's Vera Rubin and Grace Blackwell chips, with the exact increase varying by chip generation and memory configuration.

The price adjustments come amid soaring memory costs, a critical component for NVIDIA's AI accelerators. Gartner forecasts that combined DRAM and solid-state drive prices will increase by 130% by the end of 2026, indicating broader component cost pressures.

These higher server prices may have significant implications for India, where operators are planning tens of thousands of new GPUs and heavily rely on imported NVIDIA hardware. Companies like NeevCloud plan to deploy 40,000 GPUs, and Utho Cloud has 10,000 in its pipeline, potentially increasing capital requirements substantially.

Large-scale deployments, such as Yotta Data Services' agreement for over 20,000 Blackwell GPUs valued at approximately $2.8 billion, are affected. While existing contracts are locked in, future procurements could reflect higher acquisition costs. Smaller operators may face delayed purchases or scaled-back deployments due to these anticipated increases.
