Nvidia and Perplexity Launch Local AI Agent for Windows RTX PCs
Nvidia and AI company Perplexity have released "Portable Computer," a local AI agent platform, for Windows RTX PC users. This enables AI tasks to be processed directly on the user's personal computer.

Nvidia has announced that Perplexity's local AI agent platform, "Portable Computer," is now available to Windows RTX PC users. This development allows AI agents to handle more tasks directly on a personal computer while keeping sensitive information locally on the device.
"Portable Computer" is a local version of Perplexity's intelligent agent product, designed to plan and execute multi-step tasks. It leverages Nvidia's GPU acceleration to analyze data and consolidate information from multiple files, streamlining repetitive work. Because all sensitive data remains on the local device, locally processed tasks do not consume Perplexity Computer's service quotas.
The new feature is now available within the Windows client, supporting compatible PCs equipped with Nvidia GeForce RTX graphics cards and RTX PRO professional workstations. This expands the accessibility of high-performance AI agents to a wider range of Windows users, building upon previous support for Linux systems and Nvidia DGX Spark systems.
Perplexity integrates local and cloud-based AI capabilities within a single application. Users can process sensitive files locally and utilize the agent's built-in tools, such as a browser and a proprietary SPACE sandbox environment. For tasks requiring advanced reasoning, "Portable Computer" identifies the need for cloud computing and seeks user authorization before sending data off the device.
The application simplifies the deployment of local models, including the Qwen 3.8 27B model, which is optimized for Nvidia RTX GPUs. Users avoid the need to research models or configure complex software environments. The product offers connectors for services like Microsoft Outlook, Google Drive, and Slack, integrating seamlessly into user workflows.
