Nvidia CEO: AI Labs Must Be Shut Down If They Cannot Control AI

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has stated that advanced AI laboratories must be shut down if they cannot control the AI models they are developing.

In an interview with The New York Times, Huang expressed concern that if AI research institutions cannot control the AI they are developing, their operations must cease.

Huang emphasized that AI experiments should focus on controllability. He warned that if experiments result in rogue agents, significant civil and criminal liabilities could arise, for which the labs would be held responsible.

He noted that current concerns surrounding advanced AI labs are "distractions" diverting attention from the core issues. Instead of widespread anxiety, the focus should be on the controllability and safety of AI development.
