Nvidia CEO Huang Ready to Pay Billions in California Taxes

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has indicated his willingness to pay billions in taxes if a proposed wealth tax in California is approved. Huang, whose net worth is estimated at $182 billion, told CBS News that he does not object to paying billions in additional taxes.

The California ballot measure in November would impose a 5% tax on fortunes of $1 billion or more. Huang stated that he can afford to pay $8 billion in taxes over five years and considers it an honor and a responsibility. He added that he fears poverty more than paying taxes.

Huang's comments come amid criticism of the proposed tax from several billionaires residing in California. The measure aims to address wealth inequality in the state.

Describing himself as "the ultimate American dream," Huang thanked the United States for the educational and professional opportunities that allowed him to become an entrepreneur. He mentioned conceiving the idea for Nvidia while working as a dishwasher, never imagining he would lead in the AI industry.
