Technology firm Nvidia has emerged as the sixth-largest shareholder in space exploration company SpaceX. According to a filing submitted to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Nvidia holds 122.8 million shares of SpaceX's Class A stock.

Based on SpaceX's closing price of $140.56 per share on the previous day, these shares are valued at approximately $17.3 billion. Previously, Nvidia had reported holding 1.228 billion shares worth around $21 billion, but a decline in the stock's valuation has reduced the total worth.

Nvidia's largest current holding is in Intel, valued at approximately $22 billion, followed by SpaceX. About a year ago, Nvidia invested roughly $5 billion to acquire over 210 million Intel shares.

SpaceX's largest shareholder is widely considered to be Elon Musk, whose stake is estimated at around $850 billion. Other major shareholders include Alphabet, Google's parent company, with holdings valued at approximately $78 billion.

The shares in SpaceX held by Nvidia originated from an investment made in Elon Musk's artificial intelligence venture, xAI, in January. The specific financial terms of that transaction have not been publicly disclosed.
