Nvidia Reportedly Stops Allocating GB202 GPU to GeForce Graphics Cards
Sources suggest Nvidia will no longer allocate the GB202 GPU to its GeForce series gaming graphics cards. The supply of this GPU will reportedly be exclusive to professional Blackwell-based graphics cards.
Reports indicate that technology company Nvidia is set to cease allocating the GB202 Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) to its GeForce series gaming graphics cards. According to these sources, the GB202 chip will exclusively be used for professional Nvidia RTX PRO graphics cards built on the Blackwell architecture.
This alleged shift would mean that the production of flagship models like the GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5090 D v2 would be discontinued. Consequently, the highest performance tier available to gamers would be downgraded to the GeForce RTX 5080.
Nvidia currently offers three RTX PRO models utilizing the GB202 chip: the RTX PRO 6000, 5500, and 5000 Blackwell. The recently introduced RTX PRO 5500 Blackwell shares the same GPU scale as the aforementioned GeForce RTX 5090 models.
