Nvidia's China AI Chip Share Falls to 34% Amid Export Curbs, IDC Reports
Nvidia's share of the China data center AI chip market dropped to 34% in the first half of 2026 due to US export controls, while Huawei increased its stake to 28%, according to an IDC report.
Nvidia's share in China's data center AI chip market has fallen to 34% in the first half of 2026, according to a report by International Data Corporation (IDC). US export controls limiting Nvidia's product supply and the rise of domestic competitors have contributed to this decline.
During the January-June period, Nvidia shipped 678,000 AI accelerators to China, a 44% year-on-year decrease. These accelerators are crucial for training and running artificial intelligence models. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has previously stated that US export restrictions forced the company to cede a significant portion of the Chinese AI chip market, valued at $50 billion, to rivals like Huawei.
IDC did not specify if Nvidia's 34% market share included its latest advanced chips such as the B200 and B300. The report tracked 11 Chinese chip manufacturers, nine of which saw their shipments increase year-on-year.
Huawei's AI accelerators accounted for 572,000 units shipped, capturing a 28% market share. Other Chinese firms included Alibaba's chip division T-Head with 7%, Cambricon with 5%, Baidu's Kunlun Core with 4%, and Hygon Information with 3%.
Nvidia did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
