Nyxoah Licenses Next-Gen Sleep Apnea Tech from Vanderbilt University

Nyxoah SA, a health technology company, has signed an exclusive license agreement with Vanderbilt University. The agreement grants Nyxoah the rights to further develop new neurostimulation technologies for treating sleep-disordered breathing conditions, invented by Dr. David T. Kent.

The development will focus on areas including the stimulation of the ansa cervicalis nerve and the glossopharyngeal nerve. Nyxoah will also collaborate with Vanderbilt University on prosecuting patent applications, securing exclusive rights to use the technologies upon patent grants.

Nyxoah has agreed to pay Vanderbilt an upfront fee, along with milestone payments tied to regulatory, development, and commercialization achievements. Royalties on future product sales are also part of the agreement. The objective is to develop a next-generation neurostimulation solution for OSA patients.

Obstructive Sleep Apnea is the most common sleep-related breathing disorder, affecting nearly one billion people worldwide. Neurostimulation therapies, such as Nyxoah's Genio® system, have demonstrated efficacy in treating OSA.
