Ochsner Opens New Neuroscience Institute in New Orleans

Ochsner Health has opened The Debra H. and Robert J. Patrick Neuroscience Institute, a 132,000-square-foot facility in New Orleans. The center integrates Ochsner's neurology, neurosurgery, behavioral health, and rehabilitation programs to enhance care for patients with neurological conditions across the Gulf South region.

The $120 million facility is the only one of its kind between Houston and Atlanta. It provides patients with access to advanced technologies and specialist care, with a design intended to support a patient-centered model and foster collaboration among neuroscience subspecialties.

The institute houses the Team Gleason Assistive Technology Lab, offering advanced tools for patients with ALS and other neurological diseases. It also features specialized therapy spaces, a gait lab for motion analysis, and integrative therapies like music therapy and yoga. The Parker Family BioDesign Lab aims to improve care methods through collaboration between clinicians and industry partners.

Supported by philanthropic gifts, the Patrick Neuroscience Academy has been established to educate and develop future neuroscience physicians and clinicians. The academy will offer scholarships and advanced training to foster research and improve patient outcomes throughout the region.
