ODVA Specifies ix Industrial® as New Ethernet/IP Interface
ODVA has officially specified HARTING's ix Industrial® connector for EtherNet/IP network applications. The new connector offers a smaller form factor and enhanced durability compared to the traditional RJ45.
ODVA (Open DeviceNet Vendor Association) has officially specified HARTING's compact and industrial-grade ix Industrial® connector for EtherNet/IP network applications. This standardization expands the use of the small, robust connector as an alternative to the traditional RJ45.
The ix Industrial® is designed to meet industrial demands for miniaturization and increased durability, already being an integral part of other leading industrial standards like PROFINET and CC-Link IE TSN. This new specification for EtherNet/IP solidifies its position as a unified solution in industrial automation.
The connector complies with the IEC 61076-3-124 standard and is offered by three independent manufacturers, including HARTING, ensuring users free market access and supply security. ix Industrial® supports data rates up to 10 Gbit/s and PoE++, with a design rated for demanding industrial conditions from -40 °C to +85 °C and 5000 mating cycles.
HARTING offers a wide range of ix Industrial® connectors, including various receptacle and plug types, as well as IP65/67-protected versions. This expansion to EtherNet/IP compatibility strengthens ix Industrial®'s role as a future-proof solution for industrial environments requiring smaller, durable, and high-performance connections.
