Oheka Castle to be auctioned after Chapter 11 filing

Oheka Castle, the second-largest private residence in the United States located on Long Island, is set to be sold at auction in September 2026 following its owner's Chapter 11 bankruptcy filing. The auction aims to resolve debts that led to a potential foreclosure.

The estate, known for its appearances in films and music videos, features 127 rooms and 111,000 square feet of interior space. The 23-acre property and the historic building will be sold to the highest bidder. Concierge Auctions is handling the sale in partnership with The Modlin Group.

The sale also encompasses a 5.13-acre plot of land for which the Town of Huntington has approved the development of 95 luxury condominiums. Oheka Castle underwent a significant restoration in the 1980s, reportedly costing $40 million, making it one of the most expensive private building renovations in U.S. history.

Representatives for the property aim to maximize value for the bankruptcy estate and its creditors through a global marketing effort. The castle's hotel operations and events booked through 2028 are included in the sale.
