Okta to join S&P 500 index effective November 4
Identity management firm Okta will be added to the S&P 500 index on November 4, replacing Kenvue.
S&P Dow Jones Indices announced that Okta Inc. will join the S&P 500 index, effective prior to the market open on Wednesday, November 4. The identity management software provider will transition from the S&P MidCap 400 to the benchmark index for large-cap U.S. equities.
Okta will replace consumer health company Kenvue in the index. Such rebalancing occurs periodically as S&P Dow Jones Indices evaluates the market capitalization and liquidity requirements of companies within its various indices. Joining the S&P 500 typically triggers mandatory buying from index-tracking funds, which can impact a company's share price and trading profile.
In addition to the change in the S&P 500, S&P Dow Jones Indices will implement corresponding shifts in the S&P MidCap 400 and S&P SmallCap 600 to maintain index integrity.
