Ola Electric Launches S1Z Escooter With Locally Developed LFP Battery
Ola Electric has launched its new S1Z electric scooter range, powered by the company's self-developed 46-series lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Bharat Cell battery technology. The move targets the mass-market segment for electric two-wheelers in India.

Ola Electric, an electric vehicle manufacturer, has introduced its new S1Z electric scooter range, featuring the company's in-house developed 46-series lithium iron phosphate (LFP) Bharat Cell battery technology. This launch aims to capture a larger share of India's mass-market electric two-wheeler segment.
The S1Z will be available in two battery configurations: a 3.1 kWh version priced at an introductory ₹79,999 and a 5.1 kWh variant at ₹99,999 (ex-showroom). Deliveries for the 3.1 kWh model are set to begin in December 2026, with the 5.1 kWh version following in March 2027. The scooters offer an IDC range of up to 179 km and 301 km, respectively.
Ola Electric stated that its in-house cell manufacturing has reduced battery costs, allowing it to offer LFP technology at more accessible price points. The battery technology was developed at the company's Battery Innovation Centre and manufactured at its Ola Gigafactory. The company also highlighted that it has developed critical components like the motor, vehicle platform, and software internally.
Additionally, the S1Z will be Ola Electric's first scooter line to be sold through a new network of dealer-operated stores. This expansion into a dealer-led sales model coincides with the company's recent diversification into energy storage systems and solar charge controllers.
