Oleic Acid Prices in USA Decreased 4% in Q3
Oleic acid prices in the USA fell in September to USD 1,307/MT. The decrease was attributed to tempered procurement activity among consumers and reduced export inquiries.

Oleic acid prices in the USA saw a decrease of 4.04% in the third quarter of 2025, settling at USD 1,307 per metric ton (MT) in September. The decline was influenced by tempered procurement activity among downstream consumers. Manufacturers adjusted their acquisition strategies in response to underwhelming consumption patterns across the food additive and surfactant manufacturing segments.
Feedstock supply conditions remained stable, but diminished export inquiry volumes exerted downward pressure on domestic supplier quotations. Reduced freight expenditures contributed to softened overall production costs, while substantial inventory positions reduced buyers' imperative to establish extended contractual commitments.
Globally, the oleic acid industry reached a value of USD 340.5 million in 2025. Market projections indicate expansion, with the industry expected to reach USD 464.8 million by 2034, representing a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 3.52% from 2026-2034.
Oleic acid, a monounsaturated fatty acid, is utilized across food, pharmaceutical, cosmetic, and industrial sectors. Its adoption is supported by its biodegradable nature and environmentally conscious properties, driving demand in lubricants, metalworking solutions, and biofuel production.
