Omdia Forecasts Premium TV Shipments to Grow 9.3% in 2027
Global TV shipments are projected to decline by 1.0%, but the market for TVs priced over $1,000 is expected to grow by 9.3% by 2027, with North America leading growth.
Research firm Omdia predicts that shipments of premium televisions, defined as those costing over $1,000, will increase by 9.3% by 2027. This growth is expected to occur despite a projected 1.0% decline in overall global TV shipments during the same period.
North America is anticipated to be a key driver of this premium segment growth, with an expected increase of up to 21.9% in shipments.
The report suggests that higher-priced televisions offer manufacturers more flexibility to absorb rising component costs and address memory shortages, which are currently pressuring profit margins. Companies are prioritizing resources towards these higher-margin models to maintain hardware profitability.
Omdia also forecasts a steady rise in the adoption of RGB LED backlight technology within the premium TV market. This technology is expected to approach parity with OLED in market share by 2028 and reach 49% by 2030.
