OMRON Corporation has expanded its collaboration with NVIDIA to leverage digital twins for enhancing the precision of semiconductor inspection and simplifying processes.
OMRON Corporation's Industrial Automation Business has deepened its collaboration with NVIDIA, utilizing digital twins to improve semiconductor component inspection. The new approach combines OMRON's inspection equipment (AOI and AXI) with the NVIDIA Omniverse platform, aiming to boost the quality and productivity of semiconductor packages.
The technology enables the visualization and analysis of warping in electronic components mounted on semiconductor-based printed circuit boards, employing artificial intelligence. This simplifies diagnostics and seeks to reduce reliance on individual expert knowledge, a growing concern due to global skill shortages.
The collaboration leverages digital twin technology and AI across three main areas: visualizing and predictively analyzing the warping of electronic components, merging AOI and AXI data to identify hidden causal relationships, and employing AI agents to simplify inspection tasks.
According to Omron, this development is a significant step towards more stable manufacturing processes and improved yields in the semiconductor industry, while addressing increasing market quality demands.
