OMRON Corporation has released the latest issue (2026, No. 170) of its technical journal "OMRON TECHNICS." The publication showcases Omron's research and development achievements and the technologies supporting its products and services.
This issue's special feature, titled "Edge Sensing Technology for Evolving the Device Business," highlights edge sensing, identified as a company-wide important technology in its mid-term roadmap. It includes five articles on this theme, alongside six other technical papers supporting Omron's growth and manufacturing efforts.
In the editorial, Masaki Suwa, Head of Strategic R&D, discusses the direction of sensing technologies for the era of Physical AI and the significance of edge sensing for the device business. Explanatory articles delve into the rationale for positioning edge sensing as a key technology and its value creation.
First published in 1961, "OMRON TECHNICS" aims to contribute to societal development by sharing Omron's technological innovations, which have been instrumental in solving social challenges since the company's founding. To date, 170 issues have been published, featuring over 1,900 technical papers. The latest issue covers advancements in TOF sensors, UHF RFID, optical torque sensors, remote patient monitoring, and traffic signal control, as well as technologies in factory automation, manufacturing, and new growth areas.
