Omron Releases 2,512 Proximity Sensor Models With IoT Functions

Tokyo – OMRON Corporation has globally launched the E2E NEXT series, comprising 2,512 models of proximity sensors enhanced with IoT functionalities. The new sensors are designed to improve predictive maintenance and increase equipment uptime by reducing the risk of unexpected operational stops.

In industrial manufacturing environments, unforeseen equipment stoppages can lead to significant production losses. OMRON's new proximity sensors aim to decrease the likelihood of such stops and provide advance warnings of potential issues. The sensors can monitor the distance to their target and communicate deviations via IO-Link, enabling timely maintenance interventions.

The E2E NEXT series sensors boast a detection distance capability that is more than double that of previous models, achieved through OMRON's proprietary "Thermo-Distance Control 2" technology and "PROX3" analog hybrid IC. This allows for more flexible and safer installation, reducing the risk of physical contact between the sensor and the target object, a factor contributing to equipment downtime.

Aligned with OMRON's i-Automation! strategy, the company focuses on developing smarter and more integrated automation solutions. The introduction of this new sensor line is part of an effort to drive the digitalization of manufacturing facilities and enhance production efficiency worldwide.
