Ondo Launches BlackRock-Managed Intelligent Portfolios on Blockchain

Ondo Finance has introduced Intelligent Portfolios, a new offering that tokenizes professionally managed investment strategies on the blockchain. These single, transferable tokens provide eligible investors outside the United States with access to portfolios built on strategies developed by BlackRock.

This marks a significant development, as it is the first time investors can gain exposure to such strategies through a single token on the blockchain. Traditionally, access to professionally constructed portfolios required traditional brokerage accounts and fund structures. Ondo's tokenized approach aims to make these diversified portfolios more accessible through peer-to-peer transfers on blockchain platforms and DeFi applications.

The integration of portfolios onto the blockchain is expected to enable new functionalities. These include automatic rebalancing executed via smart contracts and fully programmable portfolios that are compatible with the broader blockchain economy. Ondo is establishing an infrastructure to bring portfolios based on strategies from major asset managers onto the blockchain.

"Tokenization creates new ways to implement portfolio strategies through digital infrastructures," said Lisa O'Connor, Global Head of Model Portfolio Solutions at BlackRock. "Diversified portfolio strategies can be incorporated into tokenized investment products, allowing eligible investors to access diversified allocations through a single instrument."
