one world Enhances Digital Check-in Experience Across Network
The one world airline alliance has launched a unified digital check-in system allowing passport scanning and digital boarding pass issuance for all member flights.

The one world airline alliance has introduced a new digital check-in system designed to streamline the travel experience for passengers flying across multiple carriers. The technology enables customers to scan their passports and receive digital boarding passes directly into their preferred digital wallet. This enhancement applies to flights operated by all one world member airlines, regardless of which carrier initially handles the booking.
The system utilizes one world's proprietary technology, facilitating communication between different member airline systems through a shared digital platform. Ole Orver, CEO of one world, stated that customers expect a consistent and user-friendly experience, whether using their primary airline's tools or traveling with alliance partners. The new technology aims to meet this demand and simplify travel management.
Future developments will include support for code-share flight check-ins and dynamic, real-time updated boarding passes. This technological advancement was highlighted at the one world Innovation Summit in Lisbon, emphasizing the goal of allowing customers to manage their flights through a unified digital infrastructure accessible via their favorite airline app.
For instance, an American Airlines customer traveling from Kuala Lumpur to Dallas via Tokyo, first on Malaysia Airlines and then on American Airlines, can complete the entire check-in process through the American Airlines app. The app handles passport scanning and issues boarding passes for both flights, which are then saved in the digital wallet. This allows the passenger to proceed directly to baggage drop or security without needing to visit an airport check-in desk.
