OnePlus China President Addresses OnePlus 16 Refresh Rate Concerns

Li Jie, President of OnePlus China, has responded to questions concerning the screen refresh rate of the upcoming OnePlus 16 smartphone. Li stated that the device is designed to prioritize user experience rather than solely focusing on technical specifications.

He explained that current display technology has limitations in achieving a global 185Hz refresh rate while simultaneously balancing fluidity, power consumption, heat, and display quality. Therefore, the OnePlus 16 will feature a global 165Hz refresh rate, which he believes offers the optimal balance for the best user experience at present.

OnePlus recently unveiled its fourth-generation "Oriental Screen" technology, co-developed with BOE. This new display technology utilizes advanced materials promising more accurate colors, stable high refresh rates, enhanced brightness, reduced power consumption, and extended lifespan. It is capable of reaching up to 185Hz in gaming scenarios.

The OnePlus 16 is expected to be the first smartphone to feature this new display, alongside a design with ultra-narrow bezels. The company emphasizes that while gaming can utilize the 185Hz capability, the optimized 165Hz for daily use provides the best overall user experience.
