OnePlus, the smartphone maker, has confirmed its exit from the United States market, concluding an eight-year presence. The company has not officially stated the reason for its departure, but its market footprint in the US has been declining.
Wireless carriers have pared back their support for OnePlus devices. T-Mobile ceased stocking OnePlus flagship phones after 2022, opting to carry only the brand's lower-end Nord devices. Verizon's partnership with OnePlus lasted only two years, from 2020 to 2021.
Despite continued releases of its flagship devices, such as the OnePlus 15 and the OnePlus Open, OnePlus's presence in the US has steadily diminished. Reports regarding the company's potential withdrawal from the US market circulated as early as January.
The departure leaves a gap in the competitive US smartphone landscape. OnePlus's future strategic focus and performance in other global markets remain to be seen.
