Oneworld Adds New Routes and Destinations to Global Network

The oneworld airline alliance is significantly expanding its global reach with the introduction of new routes and destinations across Asia, Europe, and the United States. These additions, announced in September 2007, enhance connectivity for passengers within the alliance's network, which already serves nearly 700 airports in 150 territories.

In Asia, Nepal's capital, Kathmandu, is being added with Dragonair launching services from Hong Kong starting December 2. Japan Airlines is also introducing flights to a second Shanghai airport, Hongqiao, from September 29, offering passengers greater convenience. In Europe, Genoa becomes the 15th Italian city served by oneworld carriers, with British Airways and Iberia launching new routes.

Across the Atlantic, American Eagle will commence services to Santa Fe, New Mexico, beginning December 13. Royal Jordanian is also extending its network by opening a route between its hub in Amman and the oneworld hub in Hong Kong from January 22.

American Airlines and its affiliates are introducing more than a dozen new routes, including new transatlantic services from New York to Barcelona and Milan. The airline is also increasing frequencies on key routes, such as from Chicago to Buenos Aires and from Dallas/Fort Worth to Panama City.

Further network enhancements include Cathay Pacific increasing flights between its Hong Kong hub and the oneworld hub in Sydney. Iberia is adding Prague and Warsaw to its network, and Japan Airlines will introduce a first-class cabin on select domestic routes from December 1.
