Oneworld enables electronic contracts for corporate clients
The airline alliance Oneworld has implemented electronic signatures for corporate contracts, aiming to reduce paper usage and speed up the sales agreement process.

Airline alliance Oneworld has introduced electronic contract completion through a partnership with DocuSign, marking a move towards digital efficiency in the airline sector.
The new system is designed to accelerate the process of sales agreements between the alliance and its multinational corporate customers. Previously, these contracts required extensive paper, manual signatures, and courier services, which could take weeks to finalize and incur costs up to $1,000 per contract for postage.
By adopting DocuSign technology, Oneworld can now facilitate secure and legally compliant electronic signings via internet links. This initiative is expected to reduce paper consumption and logistical expenses, while also enhancing customer service and operational speed, according to the alliance's global sales management.
The first contract to utilize this new electronic system was with the global mining group Rio Tinto. This agreement required signatures from the multinational's procurement offices in Brisbane, Australia, and its travel buying unit in Paris, alongside sales executives from Oneworld member airlines across multiple continents.
