The Oneworld airline alliance is hosting its second annual Innovation Summit in Lisbon, focusing on the future of the travel sector. The event convenes leaders in digital, innovation, customer experience, and sustainability from across the alliance's member airlines, alongside technology partners, startups, and investors.
The summit aims to explore how new ideas, tools, and partnerships are shaping more connected journeys worldwide. "Innovation does not happen in isolation. This year's summit will explore what is possible when airlines, startups, and investors work together on shared challenges," said Oneworld CEO Ole Orvér.
Discussions will cover next-generation aircraft technology, with insights from Tom O’Leary, CEO of JetZero, and Adam Triolo, vice president of Commercial Development at REGENT. Sarah McLaren from Airbus will discuss collaborations pushing the boundaries of long-haul flying.
Initiatives to reduce aviation's environmental impact are also prominent. Oneworld and Breakthrough Energy Ventures launched a $150 million fund in 2025 for sustainable aviation fuel development. The summit will also feature discussions on efforts by American Airlines and Google to mitigate contrails and their climate impact.
