The Oneworld airline alliance is expanding its digital offerings and plans to launch the alliance's first branded, managed airport lounges later this year. The goal of these upgrades is to facilitate travel across the alliance's 1,100-destination network and particularly improve connections between multiple carriers.

Member airlines will progressively offer the ability via their own apps and websites to check-in, obtain an electronic boarding pass, receive flight information and updates, and track baggage for connecting flights with other Oneworld carriers. Future additions include seat selection, options for purchasing extra baggage, and information on lounges and priority security lanes.

The underlying technology is a platform developed by Oneworld, internally named "carrier connect." It enables the exchange of interline data in a standardized format, providing an improved digital experience for passengers transferring between alliance airlines. Cathay Pacific and Qatar Airways are the first members integrated, allowing their customers to use either airline's app or website for check-in and boarding passes on shared flights.

The alliance is also planning to introduce its own branded lounges at key airports. The aim is to offer travelers a more unified and enhanced service experience, potentially consolidating existing facilities from multiple member airlines. Oneworld is also working to enhance the co-location of member airlines' operations at airports to streamline passenger transfers.
