Oneworld to Launch Global E-Ticket Interlining
Airline alliance Oneworld will become the first global alliance to introduce interline arrangements for electronic tickets, simplifying connections for passengers.

The global airline alliance Oneworld has announced plans to introduce interline arrangements for electronic tickets, aimed at facilitating easier transfers between member airline flights for customers.
The alliance, comprising Aer Lingus, American Airlines, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Finnair, Iberia, LanChile, and Qantas, committed to deepening cooperation between its carriers.
American Airlines and Finnair have become the first US-European airlines to establish arrangements allowing customers to use a single electronic ticket for itineraries including both carriers. This new link also enables rebooking between American Airlines and Finnair flights if necessary, without the prior requirement of converting to a paper ticket.
Similar arrangements will be rolled out progressively between other Oneworld partners, including American Airlines and LanChile, British Airways, Cathay Pacific Airways, Qantas, and Iberia, as well as between British Airways and Finnair.
This move coincides with an increase in customer adoption of e-ticketing. Over 65 percent of American Airlines tickets are electronic, and one in five of Finnair's tickets are also electronic.
