Oneworld updates baggage benefits for frequent flyers
Global airline alliance Oneworld has introduced priority baggage delivery and increased weight allowances for top-tier frequent flyer members across its network.

As of December 1, 2014, the Oneworld airline alliance has implemented new perks for customers holding Emerald and Sapphire status. The updates focus on streamlining baggage handling and providing additional weight capacity for travelers flying across the alliance's 15 member airlines.
Under the new policy, passengers with Emerald and Sapphire status are entitled to priority baggage delivery on flights operated by alliance members, excluding specific exceptions such as British Airways. Furthermore, Sapphire cardholders now receive an increased checked baggage allowance. This includes an additional 15 kg for weight-based systems or an extra piece of luggage up to 23 kg for piece-based systems.
CEO Bruce Ashby stated that these changes are the first results of a comprehensive service review following the alliance’s recent period of expansion. The alliance, which currently encompasses nearly 1,000 airports worldwide, seeks to standardize these service levels to improve consistency for international travelers.
