Ontario International Airport Passenger Volumes Reach Highest Half-Year Total Since Local Ownership

Ontario International Airport (ONT) reported a near 2% increase in passenger traffic during the first half of 2026, handling over 3.4 million travelers. This marks the highest volume recorded for the six-month period since the airport came under local management. Air cargo also saw significant growth, with over 428,000 tons processed, a 7.6% rise compared to the same period in 2025.

International travel experienced a substantial surge, with nearly 46% more international passengers recorded. "The faith and trust of our airline and shipping partners, as well as our domestic and international passengers, is testament to the exceptional customer service and operational excellence ONT delivers every day in the highly competitive Southern California market," said Alan D. Wapner, president of the Ontario International Airport Authority Board of Commissioners.

The airport's role as a global supply chain hub was further underscored by cargo operations. June alone saw over 70,000 tons of air cargo processed. Southwest Airlines led passenger volume for the month of June, accounting for 36.5% of travelers.
