Ontario Invests $1.7 Million in Piramal Pharma's Aurora Facility
The Ontario government is providing $1.7 million to Piramal Pharma Solutions for its Aurora drug substance facility. The investment will upgrade infrastructure and support life sciences innovation within the province.
The Ontario government has invested $1.7 million in Piramal Pharma Solutions' (PPS) Aurora, Canada drug substance facility through the Life Sciences Scale-Up Fund (LSSUF). This funding is part of a larger $5.3 million investment by PPS to upgrade the site's infrastructure.
The investment aims to advance life sciences innovation in Ontario and strengthen the province's position in the sector. The project is expected to create 12 new jobs and protect 183 existing positions. It will enhance research and development capabilities and the commercial production of critical drug substances.
Peter DeYoung, CEO of Piramal Global Pharma, stated that the funding will enable Piramal Pharma Solutions to upgrade its site infrastructure and manufacturing capabilities. He added that the investment will also support projects focused on sustainability and operational efficiency.
This initiative aligns with Ontario's broader strategy to support local life sciences companies, boost domestic production capacity, and attract further investment to the province's growing biomanufacturing sector.
