Opella AMET has announced the appointment of Murali Rao as the new Brand & Innovation Head for the Africa, Middle East, Turkey (AMET) zone. Rao's appointment follows his tenure at Opella since 2024, where he was instrumental in scaling the digestive wellness category across the region.
With over 22 years of experience in marketing and growth leadership, Rao brings a strong background from previous senior roles at Reckitt and FrieslandCampina. In those positions, he established a track record of profitably scaling brands across the Middle East, North Africa, and Turkey (MENAT) region, as well as South Asia.
The company stated that Rao's appointment underscores Opella AMET's commitment to developing internal talent. In his new capacity, Rao will oversee the company's brand portfolio and innovation roadmap, aiming to accelerate its self-care mission within the AMET zone.
Opella operates as the third-largest player globally in the Over-the-Counter (OTC) and Vitamins, Minerals & Supplements (VMS) markets. The company is increasing its presence in Egypt and other AMET markets, offering self-care solutions across various health categories.
