Opella and Microsoft develop AI platform for health content verification
Consumer healthcare company Opella is partnering with Microsoft to build Lumen, an agentic AI platform designed to automate the compliance and factual review of health-related content.

Opella has announced a collaboration with Microsoft to develop Lumen, a digital platform aimed at streamlining the verification of health information. As the company has expanded its content output, traditional manual review processes have struggled to keep pace, leading to the deployment of this automated compliance system.
The platform utilizes 14 specialized AI agents tasked with auditing content for product claims, medical accuracy, and legal disclosures across various distribution channels. By identifying potential non-compliance issues before publication, the system aims to filter inaccurate health information while directing complex cases to human experts for final judgment.
Alberto Hernandez, Chief Growth Officer at Opella, stated that the initiative is intended to maintain trust in health communication while supporting the company's increased output. The project maintains a 'human-in-the-loop' architecture, ensuring that final editorial and compliance decisions rest with professional staff rather than automated systems.
