Opella and Microsoft develop AI platform to verify health content
Opella is partnering with Microsoft to build Lumen, an AI-powered platform designed to automate the compliance and factual verification of healthcare-related content.

Healthcare company Opella is collaborating with Microsoft to develop Lumen, an AI platform aimed at scaling the verification of health-related marketing and informational content. The tool is designed to address the bottleneck created by the company's increased reliance on generative AI for content production.
Lumen utilizes 14 specialized AI agents to cross-reference product claims, medical data, legal disclaimers, and local compliance requirements. The system is programmed to categorize content into three streams: compliant, requiring correction, or requiring human expert intervention.
By automating the initial stages of compliance checking, Opella intends to increase the speed at which it distributes health information while ensuring accuracy. The company states that the 'human-in-the-loop' principle remains the foundation of its content factory model.
Alberto Hernandez, Chief Growth Officer at Opella, stated that the initiative aims to provide reliable health information to a broader audience without sacrificing the rigor required in the healthcare industry.
