Opella Launches Program for Early MASLD Recognition
Opella has introduced a program to help healthcare professionals identify and treat early signs of Metabolic dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD). Early detection is crucial as the condition is often reversible if caught in its initial stages.

Opella has launched "The Fatty Liver Constellation," a capability-building program aimed at enhancing how healthcare professionals recognize and treat Metabolic dysfunction–Associated Steatotic Liver Disease (MASLD) in its early phases. The initiative seeks to connect often missed or misinterpreted symptoms, including metabolic risks, liver enzyme abnormalities, fatigue, and abdominal pain.
Masld is the most prevalent chronic liver disease globally, affecting an estimated 30% of the adult population. However, the condition is largely reversible if detected early. By providing a new framework for early recognition, the program aims to equip healthcare providers with tools for evidence-based treatment, thereby improving patient outcomes.
The program was showcased at the EASL Congress 2026 in Barcelona through an immersive experience. Presentations included findings from studies demonstrating that early intervention with essential phospholipids led to a 2.5-fold greater reduction in liver fat compared to standard care alone. The study also reported a significant improvement in patient-reported fatigue.
Opella plans to expand the "The Fatty Liver Constellation" program globally in key markets. The initiative will provide practical toolkits for primary care physicians and pharmacists, aiming to support clinical decision-making and redefine the standard of care for MASLD.
