Opella Recertified as B Corp Under New Rigorous Standards
Global consumer healthcare company Opella has achieved B Corp recertification under B Lab’s new, more demanding standards. The certification validates the company's commitment to sustainability and stakeholder accountability.

Neuilly sur Seine – Opella, a global consumer healthcare company known for brands like Allegra, Buscopan, and Doliprane, has achieved global B Corp recertification. This comes under B Lab’s New Standards V2, which are the most rigorous evolution of the B Corp framework to date. Opella first became a certified B Corp in April 2025, marking it as the first global consumer healthcare company to do so.
The new B Lab standards require companies to demonstrate meaningful action across seven key impact areas, with performance verified by independent third-party assurance on a continuous five-year cycle. For Opella, this recertification serves as a third-party validation of its embedded sustainability actions and a stakeholder-driven business model accountable to people, planet, and profit.
Opella’s sustainability strategy includes net-zero targets validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). The company has committed to an absolute reduction in Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions by 58.8% by 2034 and 90% by 2050, using a 2023 baseline.
"When we first certified, we said it was only the beginning. Recertifying under B Lab’s new and more demanding standards is how we demonstrate we meant it," stated Marissa Saretsky, Chief Sustainability Officer at Opella. Clay Brown, Chief Standards Officer at B Lab, highlighted Opella’s commitment and leadership in adopting these elevated standards.
