Opella Study: Effective Cough Treatment Impacts Well-being Beyond Symptoms

A new real-world study conducted by Opella, the maker of Mucosolvan and Bisolvon, provides evidence that effective cough treatment success extends beyond traditional symptom relief. The research suggests that patient well-being and the ability to resume daily social activities are crucial metrics for assessing treatment outcomes.

The study, carried out in Italy, followed adult patients using Mucosolvan (Ambroxol) or Bisolvon (Bromhexine) for acute, chesty coughs. Key findings indicated rapid relief from the first dose, enabling patients to return to daily functioning quickly. Significant improvements in social engagement were reported within 72 hours.

Furthermore, the study highlighted positive impacts on sleep quality. After just 48 hours of treatment, patients reported considerably fewer difficulties with falling asleep, staying asleep, and experienced reduced sleep-related fatigue. These improvements suggest a broader recovery for patients.

Milena Leone, Global Brand General Manager at Opella, stated that the study offers valuable insights. "This study brings concrete evidence that Mucosolvan and Bisolvon help individuals overcome the burden of cough and more rapidly resume their daily routines," Leone said, emphasizing the medication's role in improving overall quality of life.
