Open-source tool allows deletion of Apple Intelligence data on macOS
A new open-source command-line tool, RemoveMacAI, enables macOS users to delete data associated with Apple Intelligence features. The tool aims to restore the ability to remove AI models previously available via a settings toggle.

A new open-source command-line tool named RemoveMacAI allows macOS users to delete data and models related to Apple Intelligence features. This tool seeks to replicate the functionality of a previously existing single setting toggle that was removed in later macOS versions.
According to the developer, as reported by MacRumors, the RemoveMacAI tool essentially performs the same action as the old toggle: deleting the AI models and disabling the features. Previously, disabling Apple's AI functions required navigating approximately a dozen settings, several of which were located under the Screen Time menu.
Following the removal of the dedicated toggle in macOS version 27, Apple's AI models remained on user disks, and the features became dispersed across different settings panes. RemoveMacAI offers a solution to this, potentially freeing up storage space and simplifying the management of these integrated AI capabilities.
The tool is available as open-source, providing transparency and allowing for potential community modifications. Its use requires interaction via the command line, targeting more technically inclined users who desire granular control over their device's AI components.
